What to look for in an ergonomic chair
At AliMed, we understand that people come in all shapes and sizes. That’s why we offer adjustable chairs in different shapes and sizes to match. All that remains is for you to match the chair to
the user. Here are some important factors to consider:
Height of chair: Measure the distance from the floor to the underside of your
work surface, then subtract 8″-10″. Select a chair with a seat pan that meets
Seat back: Lumbar support is a critical factor in selecting a chair. Make sure you choose a chair with lumbar support that can be adjusted vertically to support the curved section of the lower back.
Seat pan depth: Measure the length from the inside of the knee to the base of the spine, and then select a chair with a seat pan depth equal to this measurement. Keep in mind that waterfall fronts provide improved circulation to the legs.
Armrests: When properly used, armrests should support the arms and shoulders.
Measure the distance from the elbow to the seat pan. This is the proper height for chair armrests.
